Pilates / Gemma

Gemma offers Pilates classes suitable for all ages and experience levels. With minimal equipment required, participants need only bring themselves and a mat if available (which can be provided if needed), along with a bottle of water and a small hand towel for comfort.

Whether you’re new to exercise or a seasoned fitness enthusiast, Gemma’s classes provide a welcoming and inclusive environment to focus on core strength and stability. Priced at £5 per 30-minute class, sessions take place every Wednesday and Friday at 10 am.

Each class begins with a standing mobility and balance warm-up before moving into exercises targeting muscular strength and mobility throughout the body. Emphasising Pilates fundamentals such as centring, breath, precision, and flow, Gemma guides participants in performing exercises correctly and cultivating mindfulness.

Core strength forms the foundation of Pilates, aiding in improving posture and alleviating back pain. By engaging the core and focusing on trunk stability, participants can move with grace and efficiency.

At 65 I decided to try pilates for the first time to regain body strength and joint flexibility, something I was used to in my sportier days. Only a few months in with Gemma and I am making progress, I can feel greater flexibility in my hips and lower back even when walking. Gemma is very friendly and makes you feel so comfortable in her class, whilst taking every care that you are performing all moves correctly to avoid injury.
