The Oval Kiosk

The Oval Kiosk opened for business as an outdoor community cafe on 4th December 2021.

This exciting community venture will breathe new life into The Oval Bandstand & Lawns. The Oval Kiosk was opened at the Cliftonville Christmas Festival with local Cliftonville councillors, and Margate Mayor Mick Tomlinson, in attendance.

The Oval Kiosk will have a strong focus on sustainability – from saving coffee grounds and composting food waste, to using biodegradable packaging. Customers are encouraged to bring their own takeaway containers and coffee cups to minimise unnecessary waste. The new opening of the Kiosk is further evidence of GRASS Cliftonville CIC’s ongoing commitment to regeneration in Cliftonville.

Customers can expect locally made cakes and Kentish ice-creams, alongside high-quality barista-made coffee and snacks. All ingredients will be well sourced, and we aspire to use local, organic and Fair-trade wherever possible.

“I am very pleased that The Oval Kiosk has opened. This is a project that will benefit the local community immensely and I know that everyone at GRASS has worked so hard to make this project happen. It will be a wonderful addition to the local community, and I would encourage everyone to visit and support The Oval Bandstand.”

Cllr Lesley Game, Chairman of Kent County Council
