The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever 2025 — What a Day!
Wow. What an absolutely magical afternoon that was.
On Sunday 27th July, The Oval turned a glorious sea of red as The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever made its return to Cliftonville in Margate — and what a return it was. It’s hard to describe the atmosphere unless you were there, but imagine hundreds of people, all in flowing red dresses, arms waving in the air, dancing their hearts out to one of the most iconic songs of all time — and smiling from ear to ear. That was the vibe.
There’s something incredibly special about seeing our community come together like this — joyful, expressive, slightly surreal, and full of love. It’s not just a celebration of Kate Bush (though of course we adore her), it’s a celebration of connection, silliness, and shared experience. And that’s what The Oval is all about.
We were lucky enough to have Debs from Midlife Movers back leading the charge — she’s such a pro, and her dance tuition was filled with warmth, humour, and just the right amount of drama. After a good hour of practice, the crowd launched into not one but several mass ‘Wuthers’, and it was honestly spellbinding.
“Myself and some of my Midlife Movers absolutely love supporting this event. Everyone comes together to recreate the famous Wuthering Heights dance at the award-winning Oval Bandstand, raising vital funds for two local charities — and all whilst wearing the iconic red dress. What’s not to love?”
– Debs, Midlife Movers
Then came the show-stopping finale — a live performance of Wuthering Heights from the utterly brilliant The Kate Bush Experience. If you’ve never heard them, they’re spine-tinglingly good. They also treated us to a full headline set earlier in the day, and people were up dancing from the very first song.
Our host for the afternoon was the wonderful Brigitte Aphrodite, who held everything together with grace, glitter, and big laughs. We also had a fantastic DJ set from DJ TBX spinning all the Kate-inspired tunes, and of course the legendary Best Kate competition — with prizes handed out across five fabulous categories, including Best Drag, Best Midlife Mover, Best Youth, Best Adult, and Best Dressed.
But what really blew us away was the generosity of everyone who came. Thanks to your support, we raised an incredible £2,850 for MAMA to MAMA and Oasis Domestic Abuse Service — two amazing local charities doing vital work with women, children, and vulnerable families across Thanet. Both charities were on site chatting to guests and sharing their work, and it meant so much to have them there.
“We were so excited to be back donning our red dresses! Thank you to the incredible team at GRASS Cliftonville for their unwavering support of Oasis and Mama to Mama. It was wonderful to see all the Kates in action!” – Claire, Oasis Domestic Abuse Service
“Being chosen as one of the charities to benefit from this event shows us that our community truly has our back. Events like The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever are crucial for raising awareness and funds, allowing Mama to Mama to continue supporting mothers and families.” – Jayne, MAMA to MAMA
A huge thank you to our sound crew BA Event Solutions, our drone operator Sky Fairy for the fantastic aerial footage, and to everyone who danced, dressed up, performed, helped out, or just came along to soak up the atmosphere — it’s days like this that remind me why we do what we do.
Inspired by our Wuthermothers, Shambush, who created this event in 2013, we are able to run The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever each year with their kind permission.
