The most Wuthering Heights Day ever…..
Local Celebration of Kate Bush’s “Wuthering Heights” Raises Over £2000 for Charity Since its inception in July 2016, “The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever!” has become a global phenomenon, uniting over 10,000 participants in more than 70 cities worldwide. This colorful event brings together fans dressed in red to dance to Kate Bush’s iconic song, “Wuthering Heights,” while raising funds for various charitable causes. This past Sunday,
the vibrant celebration took place at The Oval Bandstand, where attendees enjoyed an afternoon filled with dancing, singing, and community spirit under the glorious sunshine. The event, organized by GRASS Cliftonville CIC, aimed to foster connections and raise money for two local charities: Oasis Domestic Abuse Service and Mama to Mama. Oasis Domestic Abuse Service is dedicated to supporting victims of domestic violence, while Mama to Mama provides essential pre-loved items to vulnerable pregnant women, caregivers, and children under five living in poverty. In addition to the charity dance, the event featured a fantastic lineup of Kate Bush-themed entertainment. Highlights included live music from The Kate Bush Experience tribute band, DJ performances, dance competitions, and more. Simon Bell from GRASS Cliftonville CIC expressed his delight: “Our goal was to raise over £2000 and gather at least 200 enthusiastic dancers to embody the spirit of Kate Bush and support these incredible causes. We are thrilled to announce that with the participation of over 350 dancers, we raised an incredible £2,108!
This amount will be shared between the two fantastic local charities, ensuring that everyone’s involvement made a meaningful impact.” Stephen Darrer from GRASS Cliftonville CIC also extended his gratitude: “We want to thank the brilliant charities, Mama to Mama and Oasis, for their incredible work. Special thanks to The Kate Bush Experience for their live music, Debs from Midlife Movers for her amazing training video and leading the dance, and Bridgette Aphrodite for her exceptional hosting. And, of course, a huge thank you to all the participants who made the event such a huge success. Kate would have been incredibly proud of you all. We can’t wait for the next event on Sunday 27th July, 2025!” The inspiration for “The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever!” came from “The Ultimate Kate Bush Experience” by the British theatrical group Shambush and Samantha Wareing. With their kind permission, GRASS Cliftonville CIC has brought this unique celebration to Margate. Thank you to everyone who joined in this joyous occasion and helped keep the spirit of Kate Bush’s music alive while supporting vital local causes. We look forward to seeing you again in 2025 at the next mass ‘Wuther’ at The Oval Bandstand in Cliftonville.
