Cliftonville Welcomes New Saturday Market to The Oval Bandstand

This exciting development follows the recent closure of the Manston Market, which ceased operations in May 2025. The market, previously held at Manston Airport, was an important fixture for Thanet, offering a diverse range of goods and fostering a lively atmosphere. Its sudden closure left both the operator and the traders seeking a new venue to continue this beloved tradition.

Recognising the importance of preserving this vibrant community asset, StevensMarkets Ltd has partnered with GRASS Cliftonville CIC to provide a new home for the market at The Oval, which is only 10 minutes from its old site in Manston. Situated on the picturesque clifftops of Walpole Bay, The Oval offers an ideal setting for the market’s revival, with ample space, toilet facilities, great transport, and a welcoming environment for all.

The Oval Saturday Market will be located on the lawns, with fully accessible pedestrian footpaths, and a strong emphasis on sustainability. The market is also being carefully managed to ensure it complements other site activities, including GRASS’s events programme and community café. The new market will operate every Saturday from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM, featuring a wide array of stalls and a diverse range of traders.
